      Some cultural traditions are perpetuating poverty. Forget the sentimentality, do we really need them in a developing world

        • Absolutely. Let’s take the tradition of taking young boys up to the mountains for circumcision. The cost of taking your child there, the cost of them being there as well as the cost of celebrating their return is insane. You would never spend that much in a hospital because government offers the service freely. So why is that money spent on sentimentality rather than on saving up for that young man’s future.
